Inspired by the great Chardonnays made in and around the villages of Chassagne and Puligny Montrachet in France, our 2009 Salexis Carneros Lake Vineyard Chardonnay was made following strict Burgundian methodology. Made from Napa Valley Carneros Chardonnay fruit grown by Beckstoffer Vineyards, the wine was fermented for both alcoholic and malolactic using native yeast and bacteria. Following fermentation, the wine was aged on it gross lees for eighteen months, racked and returned and aged on light lees for an additional five months prior to bottling. The wine offers the aromas and flavors of pineapple, lemon zest, apricot, and toasted almonds with a rich creme brulee mouthfeel. This Chardonnay will continue to develop for 5 to 8 years in the bottle.
